New DTI guidance on worker consultation

Regulations giving UK employees the right to be consulted and informed about key decisions that affect their jobs were the subject of new guidance from the DTI today. The rules on consultation will be phased in from April.

The Information and Consultation of Employees (ICE) Regulations, approved by Parliament in December, implement an EU Directive of 2002 and will be phased in over the next three years, giving smaller firms more time to prepare.
