France is on the verge of outlawing homophobia in the workplace - a draft bill has cleared the National Assembly stage and now just needs to be approved by the Senate later this month.
The controversial legislation is deemed to be necessary by the french Government to meet a rising tide of homophobia. Anyone convicted of homophobic or sexist comments in the workplace - either verbally or in writing - could be sentenced to up to one year in prison, or face a fine of up to £31,000.
