A Burnley company which makes surfaces for horse-riding has been fined £12,000 today after admitting to polluting a brook. Equestrian Surfaces Limited was fined £10,000 under the Water Resources Act 1991 for allowing polluting matter to enter controlled waters, and £2,000 under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 for failing to prevent the escape of waste.
A member of the public reported that material being used by Equestrian Surfaces in its production process was getting into the nearb... (262 more words)
