Fleet operators have vowed to fight Government plans to introduce a new 3% benefit-in-kind tax levy on diesel company cars announced in the pre-Budget report. Chancellor of the Exchequer Gordon Brown made the shock announcement last week that he would impose the levy on diesel cars from 1 January 1 2006. (Although the policy will take effect from that date, it will not be implemented until 6 April 6 2006.)
