Northern Ireland firm Farrans Construction Limited has been fined £100,000 after a worker was electrocuted when an excavator he was touching came into contact with overhead high-voltage cables back in December 2001.
Farrans pleaded guilty to failing to ensure the safety of contractors, failing to carry out a proper risk assessment, and failing to make sure that the lifting operation was properly planned. Judge Mr Curran said:
