Dawn Meats (UK) Ltd has been fined a total of £25,000 after abattoir effluent containing blood leaked into a ditch. The court heard that levels of pollution as high and higher than crude sewage were found in the ditch on two separate occasions and the water was running red. Oxygen levels in the water were seriously low and ammonia levels high.
