Employers will pay the costs for failure to ensure the safety of employees under regulations for the new, expanded NHS Injury Costs Recovery (ICR) scheme. The consultation on the draft regulations was published by health minister Rosie Winterton on Friday.
Under the scheme, the NHS will be able to recover costs from insurance companies for treating patients in all cases where personal injury compensation is paid. It is expected that the ICR scheme will recover £150m per year.
