Employees are most likely to commit fraud crimes against employers, according to a detailed study of fraud in Britain by accountants BDO Stoy Haward.
The study, part of BDO Stoy Hayward’s FraudTrack report, involved a detailed analysis of 209 cases to reveal fraudsters’ characteristics, their crimes and how they are prosecuted. The research shows that 35% of fraud against employers is committed by employees and directors who know the firm’s systems and can override controls.
