Pressurised managers faced with employee incompetence (whether real or imagined) may feel tempted to copy Hell’s Kitchen celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay by serving up abuse, insults and put downs. But, while seeing celebrities abused may make popular television, it will backfire in the workplace and even lead to fines for unfair dismissal and injured feelings as high as £60,000.
