The Government is being lobbied by small businesses protesting against its plans to abolish the cap on compensation for unfair dismissal. Proposals are expected from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) suggesting that the cap be removed, so that compensation in unfair dismissal cases could be unlimited, as it is in discrimination cases. The DTI’s guidance on this is expected shortly.
