The Government has announced changes to section 8 of the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996 with effect from 1 May 2004. This section requires employers to check that prospective employees have the right to work in the UK. The changes relate to the documents you will need to check to ensure that you are employing someone legally. Failure to comply will constitute a criminal offence.
