The news that a council official has been charged with manslaughter in connection with an outbreak of Legionnaires' disease, has sent a tremor through the facilities management profession and industry, reports i-FM.net.
Gillian Beckingham, design services manager with Barrow-in-Furness Borough Council, was charged with seven counts of manslaughter as well as an offence under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. Summons have also been served on the council itself [see article 'Manslaughte... (1202 more words)
