The Government announced new measures on Friday (4 July 2003) to see that sectors excluded from the Working Time Directive 1998 are covered from 1 August 2003.
The sectors have been excluded from the regulations so far because it was felt that they needed extra time to address their differing working practices. Those affected are:
- non-mobile workers in the road, rail, air and sea transport sectors;
- mobile workers in the rail and non-HGV road transport sectors; and
