The DTI has published a consultation paper seeking views on proposals to
combat age discrimination [as reported on the Workplacelaw Network on 2 July 2003, 'Age Discrimination Consultation Gets Underway']. The indications are that once these proposals are
finalised, following the closure of the consultation on 20 October 2003, that
regulations will be laid before Parliament by the end of 2004. The
Government aims to make age discrimination unlawful with effect from
1 October 2006.
