Employers will be aware of their increased responsibilities under the Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations 2002, which came into force on 21 November 2002. The costs of removal or making-safe are likely to be substantial, with initial estimates predicting expenditure of around £1.5bn over the next 50 years.
