A court this month fined Lafarge Redland Aggregates and Pertemps Recruitment Partnership a total of £205,000, following an incident in March 1999 when Simon Burton was killed crossing a road to spray paint the position of a sign.
The Court had heard that Pertemps (the employment agency) and Lafarge failed to ensure the safety of Mr Burton. In addition, Mr Burton had worked too many hours, in breach of the Working Time Regulations.
