Since April 6 2003, parents of children under six or disabled children under 18 have the right to request to work flexibly. Employers must consider all requests seriously and only reject those for which good business reasons apply. The introduction of the new flexible working regulations forms part of the Employment Act 2002, which also includes new provisions for extended maternity leave.
