During January 2003, the TUC called on the Government to ensure that small firms were included in the new consultation proposals due for full implementation in 2008. As things stand, employers of less than 50 staff will not be obliged to consult but the TUC are suggesting that this is inappropriate. In their view most of the claims coming before Tribunals are from small firms where there is little consultation. The TUC’s paper suggests that companies consulting with staff have better record...
