A blitz of inspections of construction sites in December by the HSE has revealed many are not doing enough to prevent accidents from falls.
Of 131 sites inspected, 50% did not have suitable measures to prevent falls from height, a third of the sites required enforcement action and two sites were closed because of a failure to meet basic safety standards.
Out of the 291 work-related deaths in 2002, 106 occurred on construction sites. This figure should act as a warning to facilities manage... (88 more words)
