The big freeze predicted this week will see temperatures rarely rising above 5 degrees Celsius. The good news for employers is that the law is pretty clear on this matter; the minimum acceptable temperature is 16 degrees Celsius, or 13 degrees Celsius for strenuous work.
The Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 state (regulation 7) that:
"- during working hours, the temperature in all workplaces inside buildings shall be reasonable;
