Michael Fabricant, Member of Parliament for Lichfield, is planning to introduce legislation in the House of Commons in the new parliamentary session to ban employers from monitoring staff e-mail [previously reported on the Network, 10 September 2002].
The Problem
This attempt to change the law is being introduced in the light of the increased number of employers who routinely monitor their employees’ e-mails to check whether they are being used for business or for private use.
