Scotland Yard Commissioner Sir John Stevens and his predecessor Lord Condon have appeared at the Old Bailey on charges alleging safety breaches. Sir John, the highest ranking police officer to appear at the Court, and Lord Condon, who retired in 2000, were not required to enter the dock for the preliminary hearing.
