The DTI is currently consulting on proposals by the European Commission for a directive on the working conditions of temporary agency workers, as previously reported on the Workplacelaw Network in March 2002.
The fundamental aim of the proposed directive is that agency workers assigned to work under the control of a client company should not be given less favourable basic employment conditions than similar permanent workers employed there. These basic employment conditions include:
