Landlords beware! Avoid falling into the trap of allowing your "licensee" to go into occupation of premises on the basis of a licence which is in fact a lease. Granting a licence can appear to be a quick, cheap and convenient method of enabling someone to go into occupation of business premises particularly where access is required quickly or where relatively short-term arrangements are being considered. But this short-term solution may cause long-term problems.
