UK multinational Cape plc has failed to meet the deadline for payment of the first instalment of a £21 million compensation payout to 7,500 South African sufferers of asbestos-related diseases. The company was due to hand over the first £11million of the settlement by the end of June, but has blamed a major financial restructuring exercise for the delay.
