University College Londoon was fined £3,000 after pleading guilty to a prosecution brought by the HSE for a breach of health and safety legislation.
The prosecution followed an investigation by HSE into an incident at the Obstetrics Hospital, now known as the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Hospital, when a sharps bin - a brightly coloured bucket containing used needles and similar sharp instruments - was left in a public place.
