A British teacher convicted of manslaughter after a 13-year-old girl drowned on a school trip to France has won his appeal against conviction. A court in Boulogne had given the teacher, Mark Duckworth, a six-month suspended prison sentence after the girl, Gemma Carter, drowned while swimming in the sea in June 1999.
Mr Duckworth will remain suspended from his job for another year while an inquest and an inquiry in England are held.
