Many businesses unaware of silica dust dangers, warns HSE

The HSE has warned that many small businesses are still taking risks with silica dust, despite the HSE’s Clear the Air campaign.

Dr Robert Ellis – from the regulator's chemicals risk management unit, which is leading the HSE's Clear the Air campaign – said that although the overall increase in awareness of silicosis was encouraging, he found smaller firms were often still uninformed and that raising awareness amongst these businesses was now a priority:
