A former postman from Greenock, Inverclyde, has won compensation for unfair dismissal after taking time off due to a hangover.
However, John McMeikan had failed to alert Royal Mail he had an alcohol-related problem and so an Employment Tribunal found him to be 75% to blame, and reduced his compensation to £1,570.
The Tribunal heard McMeikan started work as a postman at Inverclyde delivery office, in August 2005.
