Women have slipped further behind men in terms of pay, according to the latest figures released by the 2008 Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings (ASHE) just out from the Office for National Statistics (ONS).

However, blaming the results on employers is too simplistic, a leading policy advisor has cautioned.

Median gross weekly earnings have risen for men in full-time work by 4.6% in the year to April 2008, to £512.20 from £498.30, while for women in full-time work the figure is... (228 more words)
