Awards for unfair dismissal, equal pay, and religious belief and sexual orientation discrimination claims have all leapt, according to the statistics.
The amount awarded in tribunals rose past £32m last year, according to figures obtained by The Sunday Telegraph under the Freedom of Information Act.
The total is around £7m higher than it was in 2004/05.
Since the majority of employment tribunal claims are settled outside of court, the figures are only the tip of the iceberg.
