Concerns over HSE statistics for recycling sector

The HSE has expressed concern over the number of employees being injured in the waste and recycling sector following the publication of its latest health and safety statistics.

Published yesterday (29 October), the 2007-08 figures show that major and fatal injuries to employees involved in recycling and waste management combined rose by 32% in the period from 2004-05 to 2007-08.

In the recycling sector in particular, serious or fatal injuries to employees rose from 133 in 2006-07 to 163 in ... (64 more words)
