A mandatory code of practice relating to vehicle loads is to be established under a new Bill, which is due to receive its second hearing in October.

The Vehicle Safety (Loads) Bill aims to impose legal regulations upon how scrap metal and other items are loaded onto wagons and carried on the public highway.

Department for Transport guidelines state that scrap metal cars and large objects should be loaded at the bottom of containers, with smaller bales on top of them. However, these guidelin... (329 more words)
