A fruit packing company has been prosecuted for failing to ensure all staff are suitably trained in using their equipment and that work is properly risk assessed.
The prosecution follows an injury to a worker who fell from a working platform whilst carrying out maintenance work.
On 17 October 2006 Magdalena Osuchowska fell from a work platform that in turn fell from the forks of a forklift truck, as it was being manoeuvred. The lift truck was driven by an unauthorised driver.
