The Health and Safety (Offences) Bill has cleared the House of Commons and is now to be debated on by the House of Lords.
The Bill, which would raise the maximum fines and make prison an option for health and safety offences, has received widespread support in the House of Commons. According to Anne McGuire, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, the Government will welcome the Bill if the House of Lords pass it:
