Workplace Law Network and Workplace Law Magazine were last night (7 May) pronounced winner of the Periodical Publishers Association (PPA) Business website of the year (paid for) award.

The award, which examines the interaction between the printed magazine and resources available on the website, was presented to Editor Kelly Mansfield and Designer Gary Jobson at a prestigious ceremony held at Grosvenor House in London.

This is the third time that Workplace Law has been shortlisted for the award. In 2005 and 2006 the Network was highly commended  by the judges and, following a total relaunch of both the website and magazine in 2007, this year beat off competition from Financial News Online and Procurement Leaders Network to win the award.

During the judging process, the panel paid particular attention to areas such as:

  • editorial and advertising content;
  • synergy of online and print products;
  • subscriptions and revenue growth;
  • digital functionality;
  • overall presentation; and
  • performance of the brand within the market in which the product operates.

Commenting on the Workplace Law Network, the awards judges said: "The website shows a team that understand what the web does in 2008 and how people work, but also how they communicate."

The 2007 relaunch of the Network introduced a range of innovative features, including the ‘Quotamator’ which enables existing and new members to create a membership package to match their precise support requirements. The judges described the site as "a very strong business model that is adaptable".
