For many people, their perception of violence in the workplace is one associated with the physical violence we see occurring in the public sector; attacks on medical and nursing staff in accident and emergency units; attacks on paramedics attending a scene; attacks on police officers. Quite often that violence is the result of many factors of a situation coming together and not uncommonly is fuelled by anger and frustration borne of alcohol and drug consumption.
