Employers must dismiss employees in accordance with contract terms in order not to breach the contract and become liable for wrongful dismissal. Regardless of whether there is a breach of contract, dismissals will be unfair unless: the dismissal is for one of a list of potentially fair reasons; the employer acts reasonably in dismissing the employee; and the employer has followed a fair procedure.
