UK needs to sign UN disability convention, says EHRC

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) has called on the Government to ratify the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities as soon as possible.

This follows the announcement by the UN that the Convention will come into force on 3 May 2008, after the 20th country ratified it on 10 April. Now it has been ratified by 20 countries, it can be written into domestic law.
