The period of time for which ACAS has a duty to encourage settlement of employment claims varies according to the type of claim.
For more straightforward claims, there is a short fixed conciliation period of either seven or 13 weeks running from the time the employer receives a copy of the ET1 form.
This limited time frame has often meant that ACAS would withdraw its services before chances of settlement were realistically in prospect.
