Energy and carbon emissions have become environmental hot topics, and shall be so for some time to come. The regulatory pressure is now significant and it is certainly not expected to decrease over the next few years, either for individuals or for businesses.
Not only is there now an overall consensus on the effects of Green House Gases (GHG) on global warming but another driver, if not the most important for the European Community and the UK Government, is to secure its energy supply in a global political context where the reliability of the main fossil fuel providers and reserve owners (including Russia, for example) can be questioned over the long-term.
