Energy Performance Certificates: new regulations

On 6 April 2008 new regulations took effect, requiring Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) to be obtained for certain buildings that are sold or let. Other regulations will take effect later in the year.

The intention of the new regulations is to increase the energy performance of buildings by encouraging purchasers and tenants to select more energy efficient premises. In turn, it is hoped that this will encourage developers to construct buildings with better energy performance.
