The government today announced that it willreview the fire safety regulations for furniture to makethem even more effective. The Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations have reportedly saved700 lives and prevented nearly 6,000 serious injuries since theirintroduction in 1988 - but there are still around 100 deaths a yearfrom fires in foam-filled sofas and chairs.
