Four-storey high scaffolding collapsed on Westminster Bridge last night, injuring six people and damaging four cars. Workplace managers with responsiblity for scaffolding sites should be aware of the requirements of the Construction (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1996. The regulations require that the scaffolding be inspected:- upon completion;- at periods not exceeding seven days;- after alteration;- after adverse weather; and- after anything likely to have affected its safety.
