The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has started a consultation to amend the Personal Protective Equipment Regulations 1992. The amendments will give Trading Standards Officers the power to prosecute under the Consumer Protection Act 1987. The amendments will not directly affect customers and end users, and the DTI has stressed that no extra costs will be borne by legitimate businesses. The full proposals and consultation document are available online.
