Most businesses in England and Wales will be affected by new rules governing waste that came into effect yesterday (30 October). The Landfill (England and Wales) Regulations 2002 are part of the Government's drive to encourage recycling and reduce the amount of rubbish sent to landfill sites, and mean that companies now have to either recycle or treat their waste before it is taken to landfill. The new rules have already come into force in Scotland.
