Some employers are forcing migrant staff to work under conditions that could be compared to a modern day slave labour, a union leader has warned.
Jack Dromey, deputy general secretary of the T&G Union, said that migrant workers were often paid less than their British counterparts, some had illegal deductions taken from their pay and that employers made them sleep in cramped accommodation.
He said that it was crucial that migrant workers received equal treatment.
