Whatever your current level of awareness of the new EC Regulation on F Gases may be, the fact is that it applies to almost any building with an air conditioning system that utilises refrigerant and coolants to reduce the interior temperature, especially common in larger workplaces and offices.
F Gases – or fluorinated greenhouse gases - are extremely powerful and long-lived greenhouse gases used in:
- refrigeration;
- air conditioning;
- firefighting;
- electrical transmission systems; and
- various industry processes.
However, F Gases have a much higher global warming potential than carbon dioxide and a new Regulation has been brought in to restrict the amount being released into the atmosphere.
