The very first issue of Workplace Law Magazine coincides with the 1 October 2004 deadline for compliance with Part III of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (DDA).
The requirements of Part III aren't necessarily as drastic as many people think - what's considered 'reasonable adjustment' for one service provider won't be the same for the next.
But the reality is, as this issue shows, that services aren't always accessible to those with disfigurements or disabilities outside of wheelchair users. The winning formula, when it comes to compliance, is much more about first-class customer service and much less about physical adjustments.
