Assessment centres

Assessment centres

Assessment centres (ACs) function on the principle that no individual method of selection is particularly good, and no individual assessor infallible; therefore the centre utilises multiple methods in which several assessors assess different candidates. The result: each candidate is assessed by each assessor across several exercises assessing different competencies / criteria.

ACs can be used both for external recruitment campaigns and also when promoting internally. Our AC solutions can be used in both instances, and can be resourced through a mixture of your business contacts and Workplace Law assessors; or entirely through Workplace Law – the choice is yours.

Using business simulations, interviews and psychometrics, the Workplace Law AC greatly increases your chances of selecting or promoting the right candidate and reduces the risk and cost of failed recruitment.

The Workplace Law AC offering provides a number of different assessment methods that can be tailored to the needs of the business.

The methods include:

  • Case studies
  • In-tray exercises
  • Group exercises
  • Presentations
  • Interviews
  • Psychometric tests – both personality profiling, team fit and individual aptitude

Choosing from the menu above will enable you to:

  • implement objective assessment processes, free from bias and fair to all candidates;
  • use simulations and other tools relevant to the demands of the current or future job role;
  • deliver Assessment Centres with suitably skilled and experienced Assessors; and
  • assess four to eight candidates over the course of one day (number of exercises permitting).

Benefits

  • Assessment centres, rather than just interviews alone, increase validity and reliability in predicting a candidate’s future job based performance, greatly increasing the chances of you selecting the right candidate for the job and reducing the risk and costs associated with failed recruitment.
  • Exercises can be tailored to your specific organisational needs and not ‘off the shelf’ solutions.
  • Candidates undergoing the assessment centre process gain a more positive image of the recruiting organisation, due to the rigorous but fair process applied.

"In 2009 Chaps Ltd recognised that it needed to improve its health and safety systems. We changed our Health and Safety consultants to Workplace Law in order to give us a fresh approach towards our management of health and safety and to gain specialist construction advice.

"By using their expertise and experience Simon and Maria have guided us into developing a health and safety system that has achieved CHAS accreditation and given our customers and principle contractor’s confidence in our management of health and safety. They have always been available to offer advice when needed and to provide independent site inspections and audits which are often required by our customers.

Testimonials

I really want to thank Workplace Law for the fantastic work you have done on our highly complex project. I know it was not easy to gather all the sensitive information from so many people. Myself and the MD have read the report and are both delighted with the clear and easy to understand way the whole report is laid out. The recommendations were spot on and it certainly helped clarify the issues. I am sure we will be calling on your services again. Thank you.
